Surigao del Sur is a province in the Philippines located in the Caraga region occupying the northeastern section of Mindanao. Its capital is the City of Tandag, was once Spanish garrison town during the 1600s and became an important center of faith and trade.


Surigao del Sur is home to various indiginous groups, including the Manobo and Mamanwa, preserving rich cultural traditional and crafts. Surigao del Sur is known for its natural  wonders, from enchanted rivers, water falls and to pristine beaches and island.



                    TOURITS ATTRACTIONS

                                                                    TINUY-AN FALLS

Tinuy-an Falls is 99 m wide and 26 m (or 85 ft) high. It has three tiers, the third of which is the highest and widest part. Visitors can take a swim on its pools, especially on the natural pool of the second waterfall as it isn’t as deep compared to the one at the bottom of the third tier.


One of the most popular travel destinations in the Philippines is none other than this stunning, gorgeous waterfall called Tinuy-an Falls in Surigao del Sur! Located in the city of Bislig, Surigao del Sur, this travel destination proved to be one of the most visited in the province.

Why go:

  • A stunning multi-tiered waterfall, about 55 m high and 95 m wide, often dubbed the “Little Niagara of the Philippines”. 

  • Surrounded by lush rainforest, great for nature-lovers and for spectacular photo opportunities. Activities: bamboo raft ride near the falls, swimming in certain areas. 

Tips:

  • Best seen in the morning (rainbow appears between ~9 a.m.–11 a.m).

  • Bring water-friendly shoes, it can be slippery.

  • Check local access/entrance fee and transport from Bislig City.



ENCHANTED RIVER

One of the most popular travel destinations in the Philippines is none other than this stunning, mystical river called Enchanted River in Surigao del Sur! Located in Bgy. Talisay in the municipality of Hinatuan, this travel destination is the most visited among all the travel spots we have visited in the province.

Why go:

  • Famous for its clear blue water and mystical ambience.

  • Unique ecosystem: you can see fish in the water, the depth changes dramatically, and there are underground cave systems nearby. 

Tips:

  • Respect rules around swimming in deeper zones; there may be restricted areas (especially near underground caves). 

  • Go early to avoid crowds.

  • Bring a good camera the water colour is stunning.





BRITANNIA ISLAND

The "Britania Group of Islands" is a cluster of islands located in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. It has become one of the province's most famous tourist attractions because of its powdery, white-sand beaches and clear turquoise waters. The island group's name is taken from the barangay where it belongs, Barangay Britania, which is derived from the Greek form "Brettania" meaning "a collection of islands with individual names".

Why go:

  • A group of around 24 islets off the coast with white-sand beaches, turquoise waters and rock formations.

  • Ideal for island-hopping, snorkeling, relaxing by the beach. 

Tips:

  • It’s best suited for a day trip or overnight stay if you want to fully explore.

  • Bring snorkeling gear if you have one (some islets have clear water and reef life).

  • Check boat schedules and weather conditions (sea state matters).
